Big problems in Philly, Penguins injury updates

Sometimes, you have to break it before you can fix it. John Tortorella smashes the Philadelphia Flyers as they embark on a project shredding akin to Godzilla in Tokyo, including breathing fire. The Flyers and Montreal Canadiens had been talking about a trade over the summer. The Chicago media began diving into NHL trade rumors and what Patrick Kane’s trade to the Rangers would look like. There was some hockey on Monday, and Cal McCar’s sportsmanship resulted in a penalty being canceled against his opponent. And the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room scene was just too perfect.

Maybe I’ve been doing this for a long time. No one should be surprised that the Flyers have had friction with the top players. Remember Tortorella vs. Vincent Lecavalier in Tampa? It was controversial in Vancouver, and only lasted a year. Torts was up against Ryan Johansen in Columbus, and the cycle repeated in Philly with Kevin Hayes. When Tortorella sees the need to change the culture, he uses his best players to make the change happen. If he doesn’t feel like they’re on board with his show, he makes an example of them, which isn’t usually pretty.
