Boston Bruins record tracker – schedule and points breakdown

The Boston Bruins entered the 2022-23 NHL season with modest expectations. And the team collected 107 points last season, before dropping out in the first round of the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs. Over the summer, the Bruins fired coach Bruce Cassidy and replaced him with Jim Montgomery. Caesars Sportsbook gave them 25-1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup, and ranked them #14 in their preseason power ratings.

Then the season kicked off, and the Bruins were creating one of the greatest regular seasons of the salary cap era (since 2005-2006).

Through 46 games played, the Bruins have a record of 37-5-4, good for 78 points and 0.848 percentage points. Follow here as the B chases down NHL history, and watch it live in five games exclusive to ABC, ESPN+ and Hulu, along with other games available to out-of-market viewers on NHL Power Play on ESPN+, which is included with your ESPN+ subscription.

Wins: 37

Through 46 games played, the Bruins are on a streak of 66 wins by the end of the season. The current record for most wins in a season was set in 1995-96 by the Detroit Red Wings (who finished 62-13-7), and tied in 2018-19 by the Tampa Bay Lightning (62-16-4). Neither team has won a Stanley Cup in their own record-setting season, with the Red Wings losing to the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Finals, and the Lightning being swept in the first round by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Points: 78

Boston is on track for 139 points this season. This would break the current record for points in a season held by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens (60-8-12), who set that mark in an 80-game season. The Cup was won by the Canadians that season – at the expense of the Bruins.

Goal difference: +81

Goal difference is not an easy statistic to project for a number of reasons. But if you take the Bruins’ current differential – the best in the league at 38 goals – and extrapolate that from 82 games, it finishes at plus-144. That’s a number that would beat anything in the salary cap era, but would be tied for seventh in league history. The 1976-77 Canadians were atop the board, at plus-216.

Team save percentage: .932

Linus Ullmark And Jeremy Swaiman She is one of the best goaltending doubles in the NHL, and along with 30 of 31 games by Keith Kinkaid, the combination has the best save percentage for a team in the league, ahead of the Dallas Stars at 0.921. Although not an official league record, the best mark for a team in a single season is . 934, set by the 1968-69 St. Louis Blues.

Number of goals per match: 2.02

All of these warnings did not result in many goals for the Bruins’ opponents. Their mark of 2.02 goals per game is well ahead of second place Dallas (2.54) and a range of teams between 2.61 and 2.63. The post-1967 expansion record for lowest goals against average in a season is 1.89, held by the 2011–12 Blues.

to David Buster

The 26-year-old winger is second in the NHL with 36 goals, and fourth with 65 points, at 64 and 116 paces, respectively. Those total numbers don’t come close to NHL records at all, but if he hits that goal mark, it will be the fourth most goals scored in a single season by a Bruin, eclipsing Phil Esposito’s clean sweep for the top five scoring seasons in B history. .

Linus Ullmark

By picking up his 25th win of the season in his 28th game, Allmark broke the NHL record for fewest games to reach that victory standard. He leads the league in goals against average (1.82) and save percentage (. 938). The NHL single-season record for wins (48, by Braden Holtby in 2015-16) is in play. The modern era record for GAA is 1.56 (Brian Elliott940 (also by Elliott in 2011-12).
