While lacking in traditional drama, Monday’s NFC Wild Card game pitted the two teams Dallas Cowboys The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be considered one of the most unusual postseason games in NFL history. …
As a result, the Cowboys now have two players on the roster.
The Cowboys have signed player Tristan Vizcaino to their coaching staff, as first reported by The Cowboys Dallas News.
Vizcaino was with Dallas briefly in the 2020 season…and he’s not expected to take over for Brett Maher just yet. But …
Dallas (13-5) handled the business against NFC South champions W They exorcised Tom Brady’s demons With a 31-14 victory but it came with the burden of one of the most questionable special teams performances in the NFL’s century-long annals: Maher became the first player since 1932 to miss four extra points in a game.
The Cowboys handled Tampa so well that Maher’s fumbles didn’t matter. Dallas capitalized on five touchdowns but a hard-fought six-pointer against the San Francisco 49ers, who host an NFC playoff date with the Cowboys on Sunday night (5:30 p.m. BST, FOX). The second-ranked 49ers (13-4) arguably boast the toughest defense in football, allowing just two touchdowns per game this year (tied with fellow Cincinnati for third this season).
Any opportunity within San Francisco territory will be vital to capitalizing on and only time will tell where Maher’s mentality lies, having missed five of his last six additional attempts. An uncanny ability to hit his triples… a deft 10-for-10 over the last six games… defined his career in one way or another but many, perhaps prematurely, penned the Dallas Coda.
Do cowboys stand by their man?
Kinda.
“Hell, yeah…if you ask me, sure, “Special Teams Chief” Bones Fossel said Monday that Maher is the player going forward.. “It’s just one of those days. He was as distraught as I am. But I have every confidence he’ll bounce back.”
Well, “definitely” just turned into “most likely.”
The logistics, namely the short week that comes with Monday night’s wild card, may make it difficult for the Cowboys to get a new leg. Dallas Administration And players They also gave Maher their support, further hinting that he would be ready for Sunday. But anyone advocating Maher’s exclusion, whether through legitimate concerns about the Cowboys’ enrollment prospects or Just for the network meme sakeoften fails to provide possible solutions to those in charge.
Dallas’ picks are, again, rather slim. But Vizcaino is now on The Star.
Anyone else worth? We should at least consider the alternatives we say…
They released Hajar Allah
Those obsessed with the Dallas menu are used to seeing Kosovo-born Hajarullah’s name: He’s been the Cowboys’ training camp leg for the past two seasons, having previously filled the role in Los Angeles, Carolina, and Washington.
Ironically, Hajarallah has a knack for kicking extra points in Dallas: In his only game of regular season experience, he called up Greg Zuerlein last September against Atlanta, converting five extra points in a 43-3 win.
If playoff experience matters to anything, CFL veteran Hajerallah also has tournament experience as captain of the 2017 Gray Cup effort in Toronto.
Josh Lambeau
Lambo isn’t a system, he’s a guy…an experienced footballer, to be exact.
At this point in the season, Lambo is probably the smartest NFL option the Cowboys could think of, as he has five full seasons as a reliable option under his belt. That part of his career ended in sad fashion, as he sued his former employers in Jacksonville after he was kicked by former coach Urban Meyer.
Lambeau briefly returned to the NFL roster in November, briefly calling up Randy Bullock at Tennessee.
Chris Carpenter
Naggar used to kick the leagues in Dallas, having starred at SMU. He also, like Hajar Allah, had some brief experience in the Cowboys system as one of their small legs during the spring before finally making way for Maher.
Carpenter is a DFW kid with one regular season game under his belt, and he previously pitched for Cleveland on Christmas Day in 2021.
Matthew Wright
Wright could be a playoff this weekend no matter what: He’s currently on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad and has been used as insurance for Harrison Butker’s injury.
The UCF alum has been used mostly as an alternate captain throughout his career: He’s 15-of-18 between Pittsburgh and Kansas City this season just a year after converting 21-of-24 with, ironically enough, Saturday’s prime visitors from Jacksonville.
