Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reveals why Odell Beckham Jr. remains unsigned

Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones has spoken openly about his desire for Odell Beckham Jr. to join the team.

Beckham suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for the club Los Angeles Rams during last season’s Super Bowl, and is expected to be medically cleared this month.

Meanwhile, he remains an unsigned free agent. During his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan in DallasJones decided to share his thoughts on why the three-time Pro Bowler is still looking for a new team.

The longtime Cowboys owner gave a somewhat confused response about how he views Beckham’s situation.

“In this particular case,” Jones said, “start by asking, ‘Why would you sign him? Jones said, “Ask that question. Why? Well, because he’s not on a team. At this time of year? player at this level? This is rare.”

in the interview compound, Beckham provided some insight to any team he might sign with, including the Cowboys.

“Whether it’s Buffalo, whether it’s calling Green Bay, the Cowboys, or a reunion with the Giants, I want to be able to post my last — not saying I only have three or four years left — but these next three or four years in Something where I can buy a house, I can also call this place home.” Beckham said. “I’m tired of living out of suitcases for two weeks, I’ve done the rock ‘n’ roll life.”

Jones went on to mention that though NFL The trade deadline has come and gone, and he believes Beckham Jr can make an impact on a team trying to win.

“It’s out of circulation. Well, that’s because we’re dealing with a situation where he’s free. Free, but very likely to help a team at the moment win and play at a high level. That alone will tell you that he’s a rare set of circumstances, and these just don’t or won’t happen.” This is possible.”

Last season with the Rams, Beckham caught 27 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns. Drafted 12th overall in 2014 by the New York Giants. He was named Rookie of the Year after his senior season at East Rutherford.

In 2019, Beckham was traded to Cleveland Browns In exchange for other players and pick the draft.

Beckham and the Browns continued to have an often uneasy relationship during his time in Cleveland. Perhaps the turning point in the turbulent relationship came in early November 2021 when Beckham’s father posted a video to social media highlighting instances in which Baker Mayfield, then the Browns’ quarterback, failed to throw the ball to his son.

After that, Beckham was released and signed a one-year contract to join the Rams.

Jones may be right about one thing, usually someone with play-making potential of Beckham’s caliber is available late in the season.
