Inaugural Front Wheel Drive Xtreme Challenge Added To 2023 World Series of Pro Mod – Drag Illustrated

Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod continues to expand and diversify with the addition of the inaugural Xtreme Front Wheel Drive Challenge. Officials have announced that the Xtreme Front Wheel Drive Challenge will be held in conjunction with the 2023 World Series of Pro Mod Championship, March 3-5, at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add the inaugural Xtreme Front Wheel Drive Challenge to the 2023 Pro Mod World Championship race,” said Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated Founder and Managing Editor. “This is a community of racers, teams and fans who we feel strongly deserve to be a part of this huge event and will bring a unique energy and enthusiasm to WSOPM. We have extended invitations to many of the best integrated sport racers in the world and can’t wait to see them compete for $20,000.”

Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida has hosted some of the biggest XFWD events, and BMP owner Victor Alvarez is ready to welcome them back.

“I’m so excited to add XFWD to this event; I’m a huge fan of this class and these racers,” Alvarez said. “Growing up, I was more involved in the import scene but honestly didn’t care much about Honda. Fast forward 20 years, and at events like World Cup finals I find myself in awe of how fast these cars have become.”

The XFWD Challenge will feature 16 invited drivers. As a matter of fact, Alvarez raced XFWD and built the event.

“I quickly became a fan of this category and added it to FL2K, now it’s one of the biggest categories we have and definitely a fan favourite,” Alvarez explained. “I think it’s very important that we give this class the opportunity to run on this stage because it’s really the last combined sport class out there.”

WSOPM will pave the way for the biggest names in Doorlammer drag racing. 40 Pro Mod drivers have been invited, and only 32 of the fastest will apply. Plus, the top Mountain Motor Pro Stock drivers will put their stamp on the drag track as they compete to win $25,000 in the $25,000 MMPS Invitational no-dollar race presented by Seminole Paving.

The XFWD Challenge proves that there will be something for everyone at WSOPM. It will be no small feat for these teams, as they are as competitive as any racer out there.

“These cars, tuners and drivers are absolutely amazing; the battle of wasting so much power on such a small tire trying to survive and get into the runs is no joke,” Alvarez explained. “We have a roster of what we feel are some of the best teams ever in the class.

“I would like to mention my late friend Robert Mapes. He was one of the most famous drivers in his class and the first driver to make a 7-second pass with a K-series powered XFWD car,” Alvarez continued. “He is the main reason I decided to take on this class and ended up becoming my teammate/mentor when I started racing the class. He will be remembered forever at BMP and among all XFWD drivers, and every race will be remembered.”
