Keith Haney Looking to Re-Face Pro Mod, East Coast Drivers’ Race in the World Series of Pro Mod Championship – Drag Illustrated

Mid-West Drag Racing Series founder Keith Haney locks into the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod Championship, March 3-5, 2023, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. Haney is also the driver of one of the fastest nitrous oxide-injected Pro Mods, the Camaro nicknamed “Black Mamba”.

“I couldn’t be happier to be able to run against the East Coast guys,” said Haney. “They talk a lot smack about us Midwestern guys, but we always seem to be the fastest. It will be exciting to race against some of them I haven’t raced against in years.”

Hani is especially looking to reignite the fire against one of his longtime rivals in the $100,000 WSOPM to win.

“What better place than to get Stevie Jackson and I back together, one of the biggest rivalries in drag racing?” he asked rhetorically. Haney recalled his grudge racing days in Lights Out, specifically in 2018 when he lost to Jackson. “The starting line had as many people on the starting line as you can put in and then some.

“Stevie and I are friends, but we’re not friends,” Hani laughed. “It will be fun.”

There are over 40 drivers invited to WSOPM, but only 32 of the fastest drivers will qualify for the $100,000 cash prize. As a matter of fact, Haney was soon surprised that 13 Mid-West Drag Racing Series drivers had accepted their invitation to the event scheduled for March 3-5.

“We’re excited, we Midwestern guys, to be casting East Coast guys,” Haney said. “You all call it WSOPM, but I call it the Super Bowl.”

When asked which script would work best for Hani and his crew, he replied, “Kick everyone. I don’t care about money — I just want to kick everyone in front of me.”

Haney plans to do just that with the Camaro Samba Racing/Exotic Engineering “Black Mamba”. Those who know “Black Mamba” know that Hani’s name is not found anywhere in the car.

“On the side of the car, there’s no my name on it. It just says, ‘You know my name,’ and if you don’t, you will when I get there. There’s a little vanity there, and I love that,” Haney admitted.

On top of that, his record is set with Bradenton Motorsports Park, but he’s looking forward to getting back on the road.

“I was upside down and on fire. Bradenton and I are friends, not just friends,” he joked. “I love Victor [Alvarez]racetrack and facility, and Wade [Rich]. ”

Haney is excited for his longtime synth, Brandon Switzer, to show off at the event.

“It’s the fastest nitrous tuner in the world. I couldn’t do it without it,” he said. “I’m also excited about my marketing partners: Summit Racing Equipment, Lucas Oil, Strange Engineering, Kryptonite Kustomz, LLC, Classifieds, Motec Systems USA, Switzer Dynamics, M & MTransmission, Menscer Motorsports LLC, Total Seal Piston Rings, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, Browell Bellhousing and Larry Jeffers Race Cars. ”
