Knee reactions, Steelers lose 29-17 to Browns

Quick reactions are immediate reactions to a situation without taking the time to analyze the situation. This is something we usually do as sports fans. Especially if you are a full-blooded Yinzer, or even just a part Yinzer. As usual, I collect my quick thoughts and post them right after each Steelers Game (My son Kyle might have a few things to say, too). It’s my version of running my mouth first and apologizing later (or not). With that being said, I’ll be employing that philosophy here during week three of the NFL regular season.

First Quarter

  • Steelers at launch. Bring more football.
  • Defense leads them to the third and tenth. Will we see the soft zone early? We did, but Wallace made a great play to bring it down.
  • You know it’s bad when Michaels calls to attack the Steelers before they even start.
  • Third and five, the Steelers at least throw the ball down the court, but it drops incomplete, and they will run after one down first.
  • Highsmith jumps off the side in third and sixth making him third and one.
  • Larry O. with the cyst on the 3rd bottom.
  • Killebrew’s got a piece of that gamble and the Steelers will have a great field position to start a second possession.
  • Nice 10 yards from Nagy.
  • A good run the first time is followed by two awesome looking passes. Boswell will come over to try and put the Steelers on the board.
  • The wind catches him and pushes him from 50 yards away.
  • Defense quickly raises them to third and nine. Looks like it might just be short. I expect them to do it quickly.
  • QB infiltration gets a file Brown the first.
  • Chap injures the defense on this run. Witherspoon waved over the tackle near the fray line.
  • That pass to land Cooper was very easy by the defensive back. The Steelers missed his chance to get points and then turned around and gave up the relegation.
  • Brown 7, Steelers 0.
  • My God. What a catch by Pickens.
  • It was a crime of rushing to be friends with the Steelers again.
  • This is the end of the first quarter. Browns 7, Steelers 0.

Second Quarter

  • Cleveland snuck in Game One in the second quarter, but it doesn’t matter because Nagy runs it down. Steelers 7, Browns 7.
  • The Steelers were really lucky on that play as Cooper hit the sideline before catching the ball.
  • The defense had a lot of players on the field and they ended up spending some time. I hate burning timeouts for unnecessary reasons.
  • The defense gives up the third and nine. It’s hard to see why they’ve given up so many long-running transfers down the line.
  • Witherspoon can’t cover Amary Cooper.
  • Brown seems to be moving the ball at the moment.
  • One more step and catch the landing. The extra point affects the rectum. Browns 13, Steelers 7.
  • Great job by Trubisky avoiding the bag and getting the ball to Diontae.
  • Dion then saved the ball after Jaylen Warren’s fiasco.
  • The Steelers surely run the ball better tonight.
  • Trubisky on a quarterback guard running for touchdown. You can’t say that the offensive line wasn’t blocking well that streak. Steelers 14, Browns 13.
  • This was some very poor interference by the Steelers out there.
  • The defense got them in the second and long third.
  • The Steelers cut them short, but the Cleveland takes the timeout and I think they’ll go to it in the fourth and second.
  • Brown turned and continued driving. Now wait, they demanded a review of the play and it was determined not to be a problem. Steelers takes over.
  • After capturing a few yards, Trubisky throws two balls out of bounds not near any receivers. I think the Steelers missed an opportunity on points there.
  • This is the half. Steelers 14, Browns 13.

Third quarter

  • Nice catch from Claypool to catch the first down.
  • Brown is caught with an extra man on the field.
  • Was that Nagy Harris or Edwin Moses there?
  • Great catch and run by a warren but there is a flag to play. They caught Chuks downfield disqualified. Eliminates big gains.
  • The Steelers can bring him back to the manageable third. It would be great to convert this.
  • Steelers do not convert. Harvin to Punt.
  • Witherspoon still couldn’t cover Cooper.
  • The defense needs to stop trying to face a high chap. His legs are very strong – you have to cut them.
  • Cleveland goes to him on the fourth and third and turns easily. I don’t really feel the defense played as well tonight as they did in the first two games.
  • Built in the red, but the defense got them to 3rd and 10th.
  • The defense holds up and Brown will try to score. it is good. Browns 16, Steelers 14.
  • The Steelers are quickly up to third and really need to turn around to give the defense a break but they are throwing it deep and it’s incomplete. I expect to see the defense get gassed in this game as they did in the last game.
  • end of the third quarter. Brown 16, Steelers 14.

The fourth quarter

  • Cooper burns them again.
  • The defense is unable to get a chubby on the ground.
  • This is a very tired defense.
  • Defense gets fourth and goal but Chapp punches it. Browns 23, Steelers 14.
  • The Steelers fell two notches. If three go out here, I’ll die.
  • What do you know they are facing 3rd and 10th.
  • Verify that a false start will make it 3rd and 15th.
  • Incomplete pass and the Steelers are knocked out three times and out. They are a dismal third down the continuous conversion rate. This might be a ball game.
  • Highsmith looks a bit like TJ Watt in that play.
  • The defense holds up, so the offense will get another shot.
  • What do you know the offense goes three and out again. The Steelers have not been able to raise any offense in the fourth quarter in their last two games.
  • Highsmith comes home for the sack in 3 down.
  • Muth finally got his first match with less than 3 minutes to play.
  • Command Stalls and Steelers will go to a field target to gain one possession. Browns 23, Steelers 17.
  • The Steelers line up for the kick to the side, but end up with a penalty kick and Cleveland get the ball. how fitting.
  • The defense keeps them third down, but the Steelers will recover the ball about 10 seconds into play.
  • The defense cannot stop when it is needed and the attack cannot move the ball when it needs to.
  • I have to say I was very disappointed with Stiller’s performance in the second half.
  • I think it’s also fitting that in the last play the Steelers play the side game, flip it and Brown scores another touchdown.
  • Final score Brown 29, Steelers 17.

I got it, my knees tremble. So I’m going to sit on this for about a week, analyze it and then talk about it on The Scho Bro Show. can’t wait!!!
