Each year, I select sportsbooks NASCAR odds And futures for those who expect to take the checkered flag of the tournament. Given the performances by some of the drivers this year, NASCAR fans and sports bettors can expect another banner year when looking at futures contracts for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
Eight names who have stepped onto the podium at least once will get behind the wheel again. When Clash at the Coliseum arrives on February 5, it will set the stage for what’s to come in the tube. The NASCAR Cup Series Championship will temporarily be held at Phoenix Raceway on November 5 with drivers doing the final 312 laps of the season.
Last season, Chase Elliott came close to winning his second NASCAR Cup Series championship but missed out. His only win in the event so far has come in 2020, but he has been a part of the playoffs every season since becoming a full-time Cup Series driver.
Elliott took five Cup Series races NASCAR schedule Last season, more than any driver. He finished the season with 12 fifth-place finishes or better and 20 top-10 finishes. In the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Futures, William Hill gives him a +600 to take the championship, putting him in the same spot as Kyle Larson.
Larson, a perennial favorite in NASCAR betting picks, is off to a better start in 2022 than he has in 2021 racing in NASCAR, but he hasn’t been able to keep his performance up. He hit a rough patch for several months before finding the right gears in August.
Larson and Elliott had arguments between them during the season, so it’s almost fitting that they have the same odds of winning the championship. The rivalry continues in 2023, though Larson is taking some time off to recharge and prepare for a new season.
Despite winning his second Cup Series championship in 2022, Joey Logano still doesn’t get a lot of respect. In the season that just ended, in addition to taking the championship, he finished 17 races inside the top 10. Of those, he finished 5th or better in 11.
Although not quite as strong as Elliott’s performance, his two championships prove he’s capable. Logano always knows how to find a way to get into position at just the right time. Holding the race in Phoenix would be a plus, as it’s a track he knows well. In the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Futures, he will get +1200 to take the championship and he has a lot going for him.
At Martinsville, towards the end of the 2022 season, Ross Chastain pulled off one of the race’s greatest moves. His run against the outside wall helped him reach the championship race as one of only four drivers in the race for the title.
However, although he was hot at the start of the season, he hit a lull in the middle before finally turning up the juice. His two race wins in 2022 could be a catalyst for even better performance next season, and Chastain is another +1200 on future 2023 NASCAR Cup Series streaks.
Other drivers are in the hunt
There are still other drivers who could surprise next season if they pull off some amazing performances. Christopher Bell gets +800 due to his improvements in 2022, and Ryan Blaney is running behind him at +850.
They may both be getting better odds than Chastain, but the latter’s scene in Martinsville raised eyebrows. It was a bold move with strong results that showed his talent behind the wheel. If he continues to perform similar antics in the 2023 season, he will quickly climb the charts.
In the 2022 season, there have been 19 different race winners. This is relevant for most of any season and will affect the way the sportsbooks adjust odds for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series. In addition, ten drivers have odds of +1200 or better, another unusual feat for NASCAR.
The first two races of the season will determine what’s next. However, based on what was seen in 2022, 2023 is going to be a banner year for NASCAR racing and NASCAR betting.
