We’re back, we’re back | Maverick

As the day drew nearer, I found myself excited to hear the words again. It hasn’t been really long, everyone’s been told, Drew and I also keep in touch all the time – we talk to each other and a hardcore crew of perverted callers on the Amp app for an hour each week, we see on various work calls, he sometimes texts me in the morning On Saturday to tell me the movie he just finished watching before I got out of bed. I get a lot of Drew Magary in the screens, that’s what I’m saying, and yet it’s been a month since we last did a proper podcast, and a lot has happened in that month. I knew things wouldn’t be all that different once things started up again, but I was also very anxious to pick things back up. And for all that I didn’t know about how it was going to work, I at least knew how it was going to start:

And so I am pleased to confirm that we are indeed back. We’re back, it’s the distraction, et cetera, et cetera. And as part of the new vision for the podcast, we’re kicking things off with our new production team at Multitude with an episode of Just Me and Drew. We’ll still have guests from outside the Defector universe, but we’ll do a little less of that and focus a little more on Defector stuff for friends and family, mixing in more episodes where Drew and I talk to each other about any medical procedures or Dad’s agonies we’ve been dealing with. We know what our listeners want, and we know it’s dad’s doom. You love them, we love talking about them, and we’re not going to mess with what works.

I wouldn’t say this episode – which starts with some candid talk about Quentin Tarantino’s foot problems and then mostly revolves around Drew experience Cover the winless vikings game then NFL playoffs in general for the next 30 minutes, then briefly about It’s all Carlos Correaβ€”it’s a template for what those future episodes will look like. For one thing, this is about as passionate about football as I’ll ever be, and there will be more obvious NFL stuff in this episode than you might find in most of our shows… unless we feel like it. That’s still us, and though I don’t know what the future episodes are, it’s because we haven’t recorded them yet, and because the things we’re going to talk about haven’t happened yet. But it was important to us that they be something like, if not exactly, what we were doing, and they will be. This may be the nicest we’ll ever be with Brooke Purdy, but that’s really more of his problem than ours or yours.

Not because Distraction is America’s most powerful sports-adjacent podcast or anything, but because we wanted to keep doing the thing we love to do, get acceptably good at doing, and because the people who listen to it β€” who send us Funbag emails and give us beats β€” Secretive in public from time to time, occasionally hitting (one of) us with pickle slabs pressed into our favourites. Maine restaurants– We became something a lot like our friends. people in multiplicity Get what we’re doing with this podcast and at Defector, and we’re actually doing something a lot like that themselves. All of this is a long way to go to say the one thing he really needs to say. We’re back and thank you for putting up with us and we’ll see you next week.
